Could be that the previous answers didn't quite do what they wanted and so they ask again hoping either some different people will respond with different answers or some of our experts may have learned something different in the mean time.

You go to the Doctor and they ask the same questions over and over each visit - things change and the answers may be different now.

Or possibly because a large number of members are seniors and sometimes those senior moments cause some of us to forget something we did a few days or weeks ago, possibly.

Sorry, what were we talking about?

Darn, I don't recall. Probably wasn't all that important anyway.

I am losing interest in this site. I still love this site, but, it is becoming demeaning to me, and, IMHO, other photogs. There are certain people on here who seem to enjoy pointing out how others are inferior to them. Seems, every time I make a post, there are those who say, "Didn't we just use 5 pages to discuss that topic last week?" I am sorry that my memory bank is so inferior to their memory bank, it is not fair of me to subject them to such low life mentality. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! So, I will have to do some "low life" thinking if I want to stay on this site, and be subjected to such humility. This is just one example of subtle put-downs that appear on here, and some put-downs are not so subtle. No, I am not looking for sympathy, just stating a fact. And I really don't care if I pissed some of you off, I DON'T CARE!

If every topic that has ever been discussed previously were to receive that kind of treatment, every poster would be referred back to those relevant posts. However, we don't do that. We continue to answer the questions because some people have not seen those threads. The person who gave you the hard time with his response is a boor.

Sorry, can’t agree with the OP here.
The OP asked the same question again after 6 pages of extensive answers the first time on a pretty simple subject. It is unfair to waste the time of people who have made the effort to reply and help out the first time. If you have a bad memory, bookmark your own thread. I personally think it shows people who helped you no respect.

The person in question referred too in this thread I have zero issues with. He’s knowledgeable, funny, an absolute positive on this forum.

In the end, I’ve never hit ignore for anyone.
You are all text on my screen. The day I am bothered by text on my screen, I’ll start worrying about my own health.

The ignore list is pretty meaningless. As Linda pointed out, it only applies to "Private Messages".

Not true. There is one person on my ignore list and I have not seen any of his posts. I checked a minute ago to see if he is still active on UHH and he is. He has posted to Photo Gallery and a couple of other sections that I am subscribed to.

Hmm...interesting. I just checked the Help section and here's what it says:

"Ignore list is a way to control users you don't like. Users in your ignore list won't be able to send you private messages. You will not see topics by ignored users in the digest, Newest Topics, Active Topics."

So now I'm a little confused! But that's OK...🤔

Dodie is correct. I forgot about the "you won't see their topics" part as I was responding to UTMike's comment about being able to block a user from your own topic. Mike's comment is incorrect. He never took me up on my suggestion that he try putting me on Ignore, and then I would try to comment in one of his topics. But since what you quoted doesn't include the blocking part (except for pm's), I'm assuming that Admin's decision to undo that original feature has not changed.

The benefit to not seeing another user's topics seems to be of limited value. If you know who wrote it and want to avoid them, you wouldn't open their topic anyway. The one time I found it useful was when we had a member who posted multiple topics every single day, all foolish stuff. Putting him on Ignore cleaned up my "newest topics" list significantly

Do what I do when I'm confused. I just ignore it.

Hi Dodie! It has come to my attention that what I assumed about what you said might be incorrect

"Posts" could refer to those by a Topic Creator or those by a Topic Respondent. I read your comments to mean you were talking about a topic creator.

I don't see anything this person creates nor any of his responses. I did check that he has responded to posts that I have and I did not see any of his responses. It is as though he doesn't exist.

It gets curiouser and curiouser. I just tried putting a prolific main forum user on Ignore and I can still see his comments in other people's topics. I've asked srt101fan (whom I'm using as a test case ) to try commenting in my last topic.
