So now that it leaked out and all the hype is out there about the new nikon Z9 Fx.
How many of you are waiting to see if they come out with a Z900 Dx as it's little brother?
Please leave your thoughts.
Thank you.

If they were making cropped Z-mount mirrorless lenses, then there would be more logic for a cropped mirrorless body in addition to the z50 and Zfc bodies. The Nikon lens roadmap shows four cropped zooms, so maybe there's a chance.
I'm not in the least interested. I'm happy with the equipment I have and will continue to use it.
I'm only looking at one additional bit that has been in the works for about 1-1/2 years.

I just don't see the point in making crop camera now. It's fine with Fuji because they have their own lens mount.
I take both a D850 45.7mp Fx / D500 20.9mp Dx when out birding. When I can fill the frame with the subject, I'll use the D850, when I can't, it's the D500 with it's 1.5x crop factor. The more sensils you can get on your subject, the greater the detail you can capture. I have put my in pre-order for the Z9 and will retire my D850 when it gets here, but would love to see a Dx version of the Z9 so I can retire my D500 as well.
BTW, the D500 has a 7% higher pixel density than the D850, which is why it is 7% better than extreme cropping the D850 frame.

Crop sensor cameras and the lenses designed for them are generally much less expensive than full frame. There is definitely a market for them and that's the point.
I've moved from my older, larger and heavier Canon gear to a Nikon Z fc, crop camera. When it's available, I intend to purchase the new Nikkor Z DX 18-140mm lens. I'm just tired of carrying a 4 lb camera and lens on my shoulder all day. While there are a few full frame Z lenses that interest me, the small and light Z DX 18-140 zoom only weighs 11 oz. Mounted on the Z fc, the whole package only weighs a pound and a half and is much smaller than my Canon 7D Mark II with a lens mounted.
Both the Z fc and the Z 50 have most of the functionality found in the Z5, Z6, and Z7 full frame models. They are both very competent and very affordable cameras. I expect that Nikon will eventually add more upscale DX bodies.

Can’t take seriously a lightweight with no IBIS. Having no doubt thaz in the works.
Even lightweight FF benefits from IBIS.
Good for you Bob then why comment on this.
Because you asked your question in a non-exclusionary manner. And, boredom.

YES! Are you listening Nikon? We need a MILC version of D500 (2 processors, please).
Is there some reason you can’t just switch to crop mode in a full frame Z? What am I missing?
I wouldn't hold my breath. They have the Z50 and the Z fc. I think they're satisfied with those two for now.

Nikon has always filtered down the flagship guts into more economical bodies. However, the guts on the Z9 cannot deliver any better image than I am already getting with my Sony a9. So for now, I am not waiting, I am shooting with the best available camera and lenses for wildlife photography. I have been shooting with a 200-600 for two years, Nikon plans one latter this year or early next, I have been shooting with my Sony 600 f4 for over a year, Nikon is just talking about a 400 2.8, Sony's 400 2.8 has been out for at least two years and is 1/2 the weight.
So, I will NOT be waiting, my time is too valuable, I use the best available, and for now that is Sony or Canon.
