I believe the GPS function continues working even after the camera powers off. Check it.

True, with at least some Canons. I believe it was my 6D that only gave the choice of On or Off. When On it was on all the time and would drain the battery overnight. My 5DIV, again, if I remember right, had the additional option of having it turn off when the camera was turned off.

I also haven't used, but hear good things about the Watson brand batteries. They are a bit cheaper than the Canon, but I believe are compatible with the Canon chargers and give full info in the camera, just like the OEM batteries.

My Watson and Power2000 LP-E6 batteries are fully compatable with both my Canon LC-E6 charger and every camera I have had that uses the LP-E6 form factor, including my R5. They have also given excellent service.

I'm not familiar with the Canon 70D. A google search says that the Canon EOS 70D does have GPS/WIFI capability.
If it does have GPS/WIFI like my Canon 6D, and the camera is on it is continuously searching for and updating your location.
Until you turn off these features you will continue to experience a VERY Short battery life.

I have several after-market batteries and have never had a problem.
Do you really think that canon makes their own batteries? Or Nikon or Sony?

I frequently use after-market batteries but I also have a few from Sony and I've noticed that in storage the Sony batteries seem better at retaining charge. It's not a serious problem because I check the batteries to make sure they are charged before trusting them but there does seem to be some difference.
