A group of guys was standing around, telling jokes, as often happened back in the day. One starts off with "These two Jewish boys were walking down the street..." , when another interrupts with "Stop! Hold it right there! I'm sick and tired of so many jokes about Jews. Why can't you tell one about boys who aren't Jewish?"
"Well. that's how this story goes."
"Well, change it. Make it about boys who aren't Jewish'"
"Like what?"
"Pick any group. Make them Chinese."
"O.K., O;K....These two Chinese boys were walking down the street on their way to Bar Mitzvah lessons.."

About a century ago, someone loaned me a double book of ethnic jokes. Reading them, I realized that many were the same joke; only the ethnicity had changed! I decided then and there to use generic ethnic jokes: "Did you hear about the ethnic who..." and let people fill in their preferred group.

In 1956, an incident occurred at Northwestern University. A student by the name of Sherman Wu was denied entry to a fraternity because he was an Asian-American; and, there was a BIG "stink" made on campus about the fraternity's prejudicial action. Arthur Winner wrote a song ["The Ballad of Sherman Wu"] which Pete Seeger recorded. The final verse sums it up nicely. . . .
