Adobe has updated Photoshop and Lightroom today. Has anyone jumped in yet? Likes? Dislikes? Waiting to see if it breaks somebody else's computer first?

Just started playing with the tools in LR and all I can say is “Wow!” Game changing. The Select Subject and Select Sky tools are amazing. The ability to invert these is really nice too. I also love how you can create complex masks using multiple masking tools. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like these new mask tools, but now that I’ve played with them a little I’m really excited about the possibilities.

Excellent upgrade...I had no issues doing the upgrade (PC Win10). Just know that this upgrade will have to upgrade the format of your catalog (automatically with notice), but it does NOT delete your current catalog. You might want to do a backup of your current catalog before updating LR. I'd also do a backup of the catalog once the update has been installed.

I'm on macOS Catalina. PS 2022 (V23.o) crashes when I try to open it. I'm going to restart the Mac and see if that cleans it up.

So I restarted the Mac and opened PS 2022 again. I made sure to uncheck Reopen Windows. Then ("then," meaning hey! It came up) I clicked on File > Open... and navigated to the file. Everything's fine now.

By the way, I noticed that the splash screen doesn't seem to have the version number anymore. I thought it did in the past.

The annual Adobe MAX program is going on this week. Pre-covid, it was an expensive convention in Los Angeles. Last year and this, it is all on line with lots of presentations. Sign up and watch live. Most of the presentations will be "on demand" for the rest of the year.

Obviously you can watch people 'teach' the new features.

I use a Mac and have had no problem after the upgrade. The new masking tool in LrC is incredible, it bridges the gap with masking between LrC and PS. It might actually be more difficult for someone who has never used masking in an application like PS so there might be a learning curve there, the prior way LrC used masking was easier in that regard but not nearly as easy to use nor as accurate. The AI picks up a subject very easily and the brush tool can refine the mask. All of the tools are the same, just used differently and in different spots. Have not yet gone into PS. I really like the new masking tool.

Why would there be printing issues? What are you having trouble with?

I use Mac's, and my desktop has been only upgraded to Mojave due to some incompatibilities. So I'm currently running a second backup in order to upgrade to Catalina. Then I can update to the new PS/LR software. Masks in Lightroom is the reason.

Just playing around - quick and dirty. (This is Goblin State PaARK, UT)
Used the sky selection tool to make edits to the sky, then the sky selection inverted to make edits to everything but the sky. Then luminance mask to make some edits to the hills based on luminance and finally, the brush tool to paint the road and make some slight adjustments to the road.
I feel like a kid with a new toy!

Upgraded yesterday, Oct. 26. Minor issues that were easily solved. Everything seems to be working as it was. A quick check of the few plugins I use, the coding I've written, and some other substitutions and it's working like the older version. It took longer to download the new ones than debug the few issues. The iMac seems to get along with the upgrades just fine.

Anybody know if there are any issues using NIK, Topaz or ON1 plugins with the new update?

The only one I rarely use is NIK. All seem to work OK.
