Adobe has just released Photoshop Elements 2022. I'm currently using Elements 14, which I find adequate for my needs. My question is, if I upgrade for $79 on sale (not purchase a complete new 2022 package), will the upgrade wipe out my current version making it impossible to go back to 14?
Thanks.
Can't say what the newest will do, but I have two different versions, both running. You might shop around or wait a bit, I saw an advert for a $49 upgrade if you don't need the video.

Nope. You’ll have two versions on your system.

Apparently.
I have 14 and 2019 both on my system and they run independently.
No, the Elements program versions install separately in different folders and function without interference. There is an exception! The new Organizer will copy, use and update the old Organizer database. Once done, any changes in the old will not be in the new.
To save money, wait a couple weeks. In the decade I've used Premiere Elements, there has always been holiday sales where the sale price will be cheaper. In past years the combo pack of Photoshop and Premiere Elements has been $100. The single Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements has been $60.
There is no difference between an upgrade version and a new version. You can download the free trial and use it for 30 days while you wait for the sale price.
Ask yourself what you need in a new elements version? Your PSE-14 runs on Win10. I use PSE-10 happily in two Win10 machines, but I don't use the tool for photo editing, rather for graphic arts. There's going to be some new tools, some better / more precise execution of the 'intelligent' tools, updates to the interface. But, this is rather mature software with not a lot room for substantial 'growth'.

I still use Elements14 &19, and another editor from 2012, along with Canon's DPP (primarily for the RAW).
It depends on what you need.(The need
could be the 'latest and greatest'.....)
Thanks everyone for your helpful comments. Appears the upgrade will not wipe out previous versions. I plan to wait a while before upgrading.
Long and short is the purchase going to "bust you"
I you are getting "EVERYTHING" you want done in PP you could wait.
If there something that you can't fix and don't think PSE14 incapable.
I you tube the fix and see what version their using.

I have just had to reinstall PSE2021 because of nuking the hard drive. Prior to that I had PSE15 and PSE2021installed.
I have had more version (6 or7) of PSE than I like to think about.
The only time "I had to buy was to be able to edit my Nikon RAW files). Another time the cool change when they
added layers.
Those were the two reasons for "needing" for new.
I was running PSE15 till March of 2021, B&H had it for $69.00 that's and since it had been 6 versions newer
I snapped it up.
Historically, the upgrade has been a whole new program, so you shouldn't lose your Elements 14.

What have you noticed as better, whether entirely new or just improved? Asked as a serious question looking for a few bullet points based on your experience, ref 15 vs 21.
I haven't used anything new.
I have cataract problems, surgery coming up in December.
Then maybe I will feel like even getting back to use PSE.
Upgrades add new cameras for RAW processing. If you don’t need that, I’d look into getting Elements+ at $12. I have Elements 14 and am seriously thinking about getting Elements+ just for it’s enhanced ability to edit using Curves. I watched a video on it and it’s quite impressive. You can get it at elementsplus.net. It also has a lot of automating scripts built in but you still can’t develop scripts like you can with full Photoshop.
Although it is highly touted, I was dissatisfied with Elements+. I rarely used it. When I switched computers and reinstalled Elements 2018, I did not bother to reinstall Elements+.
No. I presently have two versions of Elements on my computer with no problem or conflict at all. I have both 2015 & 2020 versions and can bring either one up at will.
God Bless,
Papa Joe
