Gators do not attack. Just maintain a modest distance.

Explain that to a 20 pound dog. He's smart but not that smart.
Alligators will happily come out of the water to grab a small dog, even on a leash.
They are particularly attracted to smaller white dogs.
Good catch and good move, Scotty!

Poor little hungry fella ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Is he located in the lake or pond in front of your home?

Behind the house. He is getting relocated soon.
…found one of those on the 18th green on Kiawah Island…the ranger was trying to convince him to leave…he must have jumped up there after our golf balls landed…we took two strokes and left to have lunch…

Maintaining a distance is important, but we explain to the visitors to the local wetlands here that it will be the gator you DON'T see that will kill you, not the one you are watching.
So - "gators do not attack"? Tell that to the parents of the child killed at Disney a few years ago. Or the family of the snorkeler killed at Blue Springs State Park (FL). One young golfer was attacked on the golf course a few years ago, but hit the gator in the eyeball with his golf club and the gator let him go. A ten year old girl was attacked a few years back here in Florida and she remembered the person at the gator wrestling show at Gatorland (where there is a great rookery to visit in February and March) saying that if you are ever attacked by a gator to shove your fingers into its nostrils. She did that when the gator grabbed her leg, and it let go. So - although gators will generally not attack adults who are well away from the water's edge, they will most definitely attack. And they do love small dogs....
