I felt that the goatee seems to be pulling attention away from the eyes and the skin tone looks too red. So I made a more subdued but a tad brighter version.

I do like it - using an HSL adjustment, try reducing the saturation for reds just slightly.

That's what I did with the follow-up post. I took some of the vividness of the red out.
