Due to our downsizing, I have to give up my darkroom equipment> it's been sitting in the attic for the past 25 years as there was no place to build a darkroom in our present home and in the condominium we are going to. I certainly will not have the luxury of having an attic, let alone room for a darkroom.

Forgive me for not posting pictures but there are just too many items. I can certainly arrange for an inspection if you wish to take a look. Below is a listing of the items available, I would like to see it all go at once rather than sell individual items.

You are about $ 700 too high. I suggest you find a local school to give it to and write some modest amount (ask a tax professional) off your taxes for the donation. I've got some of the same stuff, also in my attic, and I can't even find a place to give it to. Sorry to say, but it has little to no monetary value at this time.

Guess you missed the part where I stated "please contact me if you have any interest". Chicagoland is a little bit bigger than Hellertown and the film community is building here. It is a bargain price for all that is included if you are just starting off.

So, how many offers have you received?

Just trying to give you some alternative ideas that may better serve you. Best of luck.

My sister had a bunch of darkroom equipment and we had to toss most of it and gave some of it away. Even the local schools weren't interested in it. It was a very well put together darkroom with light, fan, ventilation and everything.

I hope everything works out for you. Yes, film is making somewhat of a comeback. Unfortunatly, the majority scan the negatives, post process and in digital and then print. Had to throwaway a 4X5 Darkroom because it was B&W only. Do I regret it since I am back in to film? No, scanned images, digital post processing and InkJet printing far out weighs the smell of hypo in the morning any day. Good luck to you...

Wish you luck. I had to take down my lab (Beseler Dichro 67 with a halogen head, Nikon lenses, easels, tanks, etc for B&W an color). No takers, including schools, friends and all this for free.
Hope you more success than I had. I've seen others offering excellent film labs but the same negative results.

I gave mine away several years ago. Digital is much more compatible with my current life style and location.

Any one in the greater San Antonio area with darkroom gear wanting to donate, the Southwest School of Art in down town SA has a full line darkroom system, alternative to B&W silver gelatin as well. I know I designed and built it. Some 18 station B&W darkroom. Sheet film as well. They have digital as well.

If anyone has film cameras and/or darkroom equipment, I know a teacher in south Florida who teaches film in a local high school. His students usually have limited resources and my friend is an excellent repair person for mechanical cameras.
I too, closed my darkroom a few years back due to downsizing. Gave it to a local high school in upstate NY, including a Beseler 23 enlarger! They had no budget and were thrilled.
If you are interested in donating anything film related, contact me and I will put you in touch with that teacher.
Keep the passion for film alive!
Bob

I was involved as the Beseler Product Manager in the improvements and accessories for the 23 C enlarger and its move to the dichro color heads, filters and color analyzers (null comparators) of the time. It is personal to me. I suggest you take the tax loss for the "former" value of this equipment vs any cash profit you might possibly earn. - I'd try to give it to a teaching school/college still educating about silver halide imaging. It is becoming increasingly popular. You will then reach the most potential audience/users of your "legacy."

Our experience and time has passed. But, you might volunteer to speak with these students, if you still have any of the silver halide images that you made at the time. - Inspire others to explore and learn about the origins of photography and your personal experience. - You might enjoy it and experience inspiring a new generation in what we used to do.

If no takers - consider what you can use. The enlarger "head" is a very good light source for copying your silver halide images to digital content. Have a Dichro color head? An even better "light correcting source" for color silver halide negatives and transparencies. Dial in corrections to your light source for better digital images.

Enlarger lenses tend to be "flat field" imaging for copying images and making digital "originals" from them. And the enlarger as lightsource can be excellent. - Go. Do. Explore. And enjoy! - Think in the "positive," not the negative of what you spent so long ago to buy them. That has not been "reality" for a very long time.

RTCreed, you are correct - there is a small market for B&W photo "chemistry". I see brand new darkroom equipment for sale at Hunt's Photo & Video just outside of Boston. But I will admit that I do not see a long line of folks waiting in line to buy this gear.
I have the same problem - lots of darkroom gear fom the 1970s, including a new Simon Omega DIIV enlarger that will handle 4 by 5 negatives.

I too, wish you the best of luck. A few years ago I offered my complete darkroom to 2 local schools and to the Community College with no takers. I ended up dumping it all. Sad day as, I loved the darkroom.

Yes, I really do miss the darkroom and all the smells associated with it - Dektol, Microdol-X, acid stop, fixer, etc.

I live in far eastern Massachusetts but I would much prefer to live in western Mass as I spent a year at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield studying medical technology back in 1972. Sheffield is one of our favorites. But at nearly 80 years old, I don't think that we will be moving any time soon.
