Please let me know which you prefer and why.

Scene: early morning at Pipe's Cove, Greenport, Long Island, New York

Thanks very much.

I think the fourth photo is preferable to the others. The sharpness in the second and third is awkward particularly regarding the boat that's second from the right. The horizon line on the first is off-kilter and so is distracting. Overall, the fourth is a well-balanced and interesting photo.

I agree with AVIROAD, but I would have cropped out the piling on the lower left. it contributes nothing to the scene and is a little distracting. Otherwise, very tranquil early morning scene.

You are right...but not crop it because it would remove too much of the photo...use a cloning tool or other method to remove that.

I think that #1 is the best, the boats are a lot crisper and much sharper then the others, the fog/cloud in the horizon is more visible really adds to the overall effect (the effect is lost when convert to B&W), clouds/fogs usually don't align them selves to the horizon line.
Great shot

Probably the first. It looks more natural.

I like the first the most. The blue is more appealing to me.
Two and three are rendered almost identically in my browser.

I prefer them all. Too much distraction around and not enough appreciation.

Thanks so much for your opinion. I thought the piling would be a parallel detail to the shadow in the water of the boat on the right and also "ground" the image so that the boats do not look like ghosts in the mist. However, I agree it's distracting because it is so dark, and maybe "ghosts in the mist" is not such a bad idea. Thanks!

Is number 1 the bottom photo? (I should have numbered them!) I like it better than the top one because I realize there's more room between the boat on the right and the margin.

Thanks very much for your opinion.

EVERYONE:

Thanks so much for your comments!!! The consensus is that the middle two are out. My husband likes the top one. Perhaps I'll add more to the right margin. I'm very grateful for all your replies. Stay safe!
