Did you ever see....

..a blue duck? The blue duck and 4 others landed next to a small pond in our development.
Due to their size, I think they are young and had just stopped for a brief rest because they were
gone a few hours later. The blue one never stopped preening and the 4th one was always below the crest leading down to the pond and I was already nearly late for an appointment. I took what I could get and hoped they wold be there when I returned-no such luck.

No, I've never seen a blue duck and in my day I was an avid duck and goose hunter. The only thing I could find about a blue duck is that they are in New Zealand and dangerously close to becoming extinct

Thank you for looking and your comments. This is the 3rd one I've seen in this locale- one was tame (somewhere in my files I have a photo of the bird at about 200 yards takenbwith a 300mm lens) and in a yard with other ducks; the other two were wild.
