That would depend on what you like to shoot.

Interested in macro?
Canon's 100mm is fantastic and it would work well for portraits as well. (it's pretty expensive though)
Tamron makes a 90mm macro that I've used. It's not as costly as the Canon. Sigma has a nice one too.

It would also depend on your budget. Canon has a 18-135 mm lens that may work nicely as a walk around lens or you could spend quite a bit more and get some L glass, like the 24-70 f/2.8L. There is quite a range of options.

Some great suggestions. Particularly the L glass. (Is that a long-haired dachshund?)

Why do you feel the need for another lens? What gap will it cover/problem it will solve ?

I still use a 450D; about two years ago I kicked the idea around about going full frame or upgrade on the lens. After research on the web and discussion with a couple of pros they recommended lens upgrade because they could be used with both full and non full frame camera. Purchased the 24-70mm 2.8 and the 70-200mm 2.8. Wasnt easy on the pocket book but very glad I did so.

Well, since you say you are a full-spectrum photographer (ahem), I'd recommend you ask yourself the question: What lens would let me do something that I can't do (or can't easily do) now?

Macro is a great suggestion that has already been made. I have the 100IS and would highly recommend it to any one. I also have the MPE65 but would caution that it is macro only.

Perhaps you'd like more reach?

Perhaps you'd like something wide and experiment with DOF? The fast 24 is great for landscape.

Just some thoughts. For me, the key is always to enable something new

If the 75 to 300 is the old Canon lens, like the one I had with my Canon 300 film camera twelve years ago, it is not a very good lens. In fact, worse than that!

I bought a 55 to 250 IS EFS lens and it is far better. Although I would love a 100 t0 400 L lens, I just can't justify the expense for the amount I would use it.

My priority when I considered the lenses to go with my new Canon 60D DSLR body was to cover the focal lengths I mostly shoot at. I ended up with a 10-20mm, 50mm, and yes! the Canon 100mm L Macro. With the crop factor I find these lenses do me fine. What brand and how much, well thats up to you..

Sounds like you have it covered unless you have something of special interest to shoot. Was going to suggest an L lens, but as you have mentioned a limited budget, won't go there. Maybe with more specifics, we could be provide better options?

I would swap the 18-55 for a Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4. Is faster, wider , and longer to get you closer to the 75 mm of your long lens - Oh, and it does 1:2.7 macro also ! $ 419 if you look well.
