The Anghinga was shot in 2014 with a D7100 and my newly acquired Tamron 150-600. This was my first serious shot with that lens. The seed-heads shot is from 2019 at the same park, Gemini Springs, using the Sony A6400. The Anhinga was originally processed with Capture NX2. Yesterday I was archive diving and decided to reprocess these with my current software choices - Affinity Photo and Topaz Sharpen AI. The difference was dramatic and I wanted to share them because they are feel-good shots for me.

That is what that is. I thought it was some sort of Cormorant.

They are quite different but frequently mistaken especially when the wings are folded. Anhingas have a sharply pointed beak while cormorants have a hook on the end. Anhingas are sometimes called Snake Birds because they swim with only their neck and head out of the water.

Love them both, Carol.
Thank you! I've always been very fond of the Anhinga shot and I also tend to love graceful grasses.
Two very nice images, Carol. A before and after post would be interesting.

Thank you, Ken. Here's the Anhinga as originally processed. That will give you a feel for the change. Looking at it again now, I see I need to bring back a bit of the detail in the darks. That will be my next project.
Edit: I just added an adjusted edit. I think it is better but not sure.
