Charlie Watts, Rolling Stones drummer passed away at 80

Was going to post this the other night, but didn't get around to it. He was not only a great rock-and-roll drummer, but a jazz drummer as well. He also was a pretty snappy dresser, reportedly owning several hundred suits, and several hundred pair of shoes as well. He wasn't as flashy and bombastic as some other rock drummers of his time, he kept it simple, but was considered by many as the real backbone to the sound of the Stones.

I only got to see the Stones once, way back in 1969 at the "Get your Ya-Ya's Out" tour at MSG.

RIP Charlie Watts, you will be missed.

Thanks for your post and the links.

Charlie Watts always seemed the calm center of the storm that was the Stones.

Your welcome. Yes, thats for sure. I read an interview with him awhile back where he said he wasn't that fond of being chased around by fans all the time, or being mob and almost molested at times. He didn't seem to care that much for that crazy, hectic life, but i guess thats what happens when you are a big name famous rock band.

The Rolling Stones, my all-time favorite band! Thanks for your post with the great links, I watched them all. One of my fondest memories is when my wife and I attended their Steel Wheels Tour concert in Montreal, wish we had gotten to more of their live performances. I have a good number of their albums and still have my turntable.

Glad you enjoyed watching the videos. I have a good number of their albums as well. They are in my top three all time favorite bands. Unfortunately, as we get older, we will see more of our favorite musicians passing on. Part of the cycle of life.
