Monticello is a small city located in Jefferson County in Northern Florida, close to the Georgia state line. In the 2010 census the population was only 2506. The county courthouse was modeled on the Jefferson Estate, Monticello.

This is a very quaint town and it was especially quiet when we passed through on Sunday morning. The surrounding area is very pretty with many lovely rural homes.

We saw a couple of cars with people but I don't recall seeing anyone walking around. It was Sunday morning and the stores were all still closed so I guess that makes sense in a small town. I fell in love with the courthouse.

Thank you, Ken. We only stopped for a few minutes on our way through town. It does seem nice and the surrounding countryside is lovely!
