I have tried to shoot at night or dusk in rain; although, the colors are saturated, they do tend to be very blue (prior to the blackness of the sky turning to night). Your photo looks to me a bit too blue and maybe needs to be toned down. The added fog is problematic. For me, I'd try to make the fog look a bit more gray, rather then blue. I hope someone here can help you with your question. Cheryl

Here is some help for fog photography
• Shutter - f/22 (optimal for great depth of field), fog slows the shutter.
• Camera on a tripod
• Set the ISO to 100 (fog is noisy).
• Fog has many nuances.
o accurate color, shoot in RAW
o White balance to "cloudy." (Cloudy white balance counters the generally blue bias of fog and synchronizes all jpeg thumbnails).
o image stabilization (aka vibration reduction) off
o manual focus on (fog impairs auto focusing)
o Utilize shutter release cable (or a self timer) to eliminate camera shake.

• Consider weather gear due to dampness.
• Exposure is tricky because of fog's reflective nature.
o Manual exposure mode
o Bracket even if you are shooting RAW by one stop, plus or minus( so you have these exposures to suit your post processing mood.)

Great advice mborn! Didn't even think about the white balance. That could be the biggest culprit! I'm thinking the ISO was 800! The lens opening was f/8.........Basically, what I'm going to do, is go back up and try to be there in the similar conditions, and try all of your settings. I'll also bracket the exposure, and use tripod. There by golly, should be a fun trip....Thanks again mborn--------

Great advice mborn, I have written it all down & hope to use it this w/e as we're staying on the beach. I'm hoping for some fog, although it's probably too warm here now.

One question? Sorry, I'm only about 8 weeks into slr photography.. 'white balance to cloudy'. What is this and how do I do it? I have a Nikon D7000.

Great photo btw, I love the autumnal colours of the leaves.
