Going from Lightroom 6.14 to LRclassic Question

Will LRc download find my catalog and files if I use the default download settings? (iMac Computer)

If not, what do I need to do before the download to the old 6.14 program to connect things up? (about 14K photos)

LRc resides on my computer right? I want this version rather than LR cloud version?

All the posts refer to Lightroom and Photoshop. Does Photoshop also download when you buy/download the new monthly cost version?

Thanks for any help--I didn't find answers on the Adobe Web Site.

Force a back-up of your existing LR6 catalog before getting started.

Regarding downloads, the new subscription 'classic' software installs to a new location and creates a new physical and empty catalog. The first time you start the new classic software, it detects the existing LRCAT and prompts to import the data into the new catalog. Because the software installs new and separate, be sure to remove (rename, at least) the existing LR6 launch icon to avoid confusion and mistake.

All the Adobe software downloads individually and via your request. You'll find those download options on the Adobe site.

All the software is local. Lightroom Classic is just more desktop oriented (like 6.14). You can use Adobe Cloud with it if you like, but most folks don’t bother.

Lightroom (new CC) just shares the files you *decide* to put in the Adobe Cloud with your other devices (Macs, PCs, smartphones, tablets). It’s an excuse for Adobe to charge for cloud storage.

Install the Adobe Creative Cloud App first, sign in, then download from it.

The base Photography Plan includes Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, Bridge, Adobe Camera Raw, and some other goodies for $9.99/month. You don’t have to install what you won’t use.

Thank you for the current info to see it has not changed much. I am getting close to making the jump from CS6 to Ps CC and the rest of the package.

It works great, and you can pause your subscription when needed, returning to it with everything intact, later.

Thank you for the encouragement.

There were no problems. Once I realized you download the Cloud app, and from that you load and install LrC, Ps, etc it was a breeze. LrC found all my files by itself, and I was immediately in business.

Another success story.
