It's math. Sue me.

Germany: Very active lockdown actions, to the point of provoking large protests and borderline riots.
Results: 4.6% of the population infected and a 2.4% death rate using deaths / confirmed infections.

Sweden: All public health compliance remained voluntary, with only the old and sick withheld from regular life.
Results: 9.2% of the population with confirmed infections and a 1.3 death rate among confirmed infection.

The lockdowns appear to lower the cases, but the math of the death rates suggest that maybe the lockdowns just create a climate where fewer cases are detected, as there is no medical reason for the death rates to differ by a factor near 2 in modern Europe. If you assume an equal death/infection rate, Germany seems to have 'missed' about 3.2 million cases.

And for those who don't love stats, the visuals. Some of the most draconian restrictions first, and the least restrictions in the northern hemisphere after. Both in the same climate zone. Except for the confirmed case %, the progression in those two places with VASTLY different strategies is eerily similar.
