Do you think the greenery in the background is too distracting? Other criticisim welcomed.

Even though the background is in sharp focus, your subject really pops out. It's a nice photo.

Not to me. The background is almost 100% greens/browns and some shadows while the Egret is in grays, whites and a dash of yellow.

It stands out almost 3D with a distinction so definite to look almost like it is a composite image.

It could be a really good photo shop job with three layers: main background - bird - foreground.

Someone who is colorblind might have trouble with it. Even converted to B&W the bird will still stand out from the background and foreground.

I don’t think it distracting but you might get more pop if you slightly blurred and darkened the background, and maybe added a vignette.

This is a good capture in the native setting, but yes, in my rarely humble opinion, the intense green background is a bit competitive with the bird... I would tone down the luminosity of the greens.

I have Topaz Clarity and so the green can be adjusted separately from other colors. Luminosity decrease is like a dimmer on a light bulb, the light emitted is not as intense.

Like others have said, the background is a little too bright and could use a little softening.
But as it is, I think cropping it in some from the left would make the bird stand out a little more from the background.

Love it. Sharp is sharp. I can study the background details and appreciate what you have captured. Leave this one alone.

Thanks for you comments. I don't have any experience with layers. I don't have PS, but have been thinking of subscribing for my new computer build. (In progress.)

Thanks for your comments. Lightroom does have a slider that I can use to mute the green.

It's not distracting to me. It's what you saw and the camera recorded. Sometimes that works just fine.
