Spent the last few days just camping at the lake with friends and running around in the woods checking out the huge cedar trees....was a blast!!
Lake Koocanusa is a 90-mile long, 370 ft deep lake held back by the 422 foot tall Libby Dam, located 16 miles upstream from the town of Libby.
Ross Creek Cedar is a grove of western red cedars, some of which are more than 8 feet in diameter, 175 ft tall and 500 to over 1000 yrs old. The friends that went with us...his uncle was one of 2 loggers that found this area while on a logging job and decided they could not log it. They contacted the forest service and in 1960 it became a protected park.

What a wonderful tour, Cindy! Thanks so much for sharing.
Beautiful photos of a magnificent part of our country! The first photo reminds me of the many lakes we visited while living in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, pristine shorelines with mountain views.
The view from within the tree is very creative and takes after things I would have done, Though for a more abstract image, let's crop a bit more to take out the green leaves on the right side of the image.
I am glad I checked this out 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩👍😊

So glad you enjoyed these and that's one part of the US that I have not had a chance to visit...will have to get there!
These are wonderful Cindy. I see an opening in the clouds (first photo) that looks like an airplane. Nice to see people out enjoying nature.
Amazing! Excellent pix. All the years living here in MT had never heard of either the lake or the Grove. On the list now.

It was fun getting in there but I tried your suggestion and I don't like it cropped out but I did clone it out and kinda like that view.

Thanks! It was wonderful to get a few days without the forest fire smoke...had to get out and enjoy it while it lasts!
