Hi, just introducing myself. I live in northern NSW Australia and have recently retired.Love some of the information on the site and always getting hints on how to compose photos. Just purchased a Canon D650 and am frantically trying to learn all the setting before a couple of planned trips. A 8G card crashed with all photos from UK and Europe trip so now I will download each night to iPad or laptop so hopefully I will keep some lasting memories and won't have to do another trip!

Welcome, sorry to hear about the 8G card, it might be possible for someone that knows what they are doing to retrieve your lost images? good luck.
Go for another trip if you have to ...I would. I do not need an excuse to travel !
Hi,
Two suggestions, a) Google 'Rescue Pro'. a fantastic programme for recovering lost or deleted images.
b) Whenever I have downloaded my images, and the card is empty I ALWAYS RE - FORMAT in camera.
The cameras formatt will become your cards best friend.
I once lost some images because something went wrong with the formatting, apparently this can happen if you remove one or two images from the card.
When ever I put an empty card in my camera I automatically format it. I have no trouble sinced I started to do this ! Hope this helps. Norman

Thanks, I have learnt to format all cards after downloading. The experts said the card "electronics" had given up so no matter what recovery program they used there was no images left. We are going cruising next month up to Singapore then fly home to Sydney and next April back to UK and Europe to retake the lost photos. By the way what a great informative site!
