Like you, I don't give out bank account info. Ask them to send you their check for payment. It just takes longer for them to process, but you will have peace of mind. I have dealt with them this way successfully.

And you are right...in this day and age you can't be too careful. If they won't go the PayPal route then I would look elsewhere. Legitimate outfits will use PayPal all day long.

Insist on PayPal or Venmo. It’s super easy, and everyone is protected. Or find another buyer.

There is no problem giving out this info. No one can do anything with it, except deposit money to your account, which is almost instantaneous. Every time you write a check and hand it to someone they have that info anyway. No one can take money from your account without a check from you or an authorization from you on file with the bank.
And sometimes you cannot even deposit money. I have a friend that went to one of her friends Banks tried to deposit money to that person's account and they wouldn't let her do it and wouldn't give her a reason why.
I deposit money through quicken to other accounts, just pay it like a bill and send it to that account number made it out to the bank so you don't even need the routing number in that case.
The only entity that can take info from your account without your permission is the government and they already have your info anyway.

That is their standard procedure, I’ve had no problem with them at all. As a clarification, whenever you pay for anything by check that same information is on your check.

Well, after six pages and numerous thoughts, and discussing it with my bank, we decided to give the info to them and two days later the money was transferred to my account and they offered me $60 more than the second place did and all is well!!! Thanks all for your help. T graves.

I have my investment house ( a major investment firm) wire $ on a monthly basis to my bank. But I would never trust an independent retailer with that kind of info. DON'T do it.
