Sometimes, pictures of people's pets are precious. Sometimes they're, well... sorta boring. Either way, there's little doubt that those pictures of Fido, Buster, or King looking up with a look of trust --or a look of 'I wanna rip your throat out'-- means a lot to the person who's posted. And sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Myself, I have cats. They are certifiably (or so sez the Vet bill I paid when I had 'em 'neutered') 'pets' in the proper sense of the word. Despite the fact that they're a PITA as often as they're cuddly and cute, and were I to be completely honest, I'd have to admit that saying 'I have cats' is 180 degrees opposite the truth. Because the simple fact is, the cats have me. At their beck and call, whenever they choose, whenever I'm home. And its sometimes exhausting. So whenever possible --i.e., whenever its under a hunnerd degrees outside--, I toss off the yoke, and leave the kittehs to their own evil devices for a while.

Which has little to do with other people's pets. Like these 'pets' for instance. These 'pets' that someone, just south of the County line has --oddly? judiciously? (I'm not here to judge...)-- chained up in their yard. Whether they (the 'pets,' not the pet owners [though it may be both?]) are cavorting happily on their hill of horrors, or are readying themselves to break their bonds and wreak terror, who can say?

Overlooking the mandibles the center one looks oddly human. What appears to be eyes. As a group they have a formation. Pretty cool.

OMG! O My Freaking Heck (that, or most of it anyhow, is what is --in Philological circles-- known as a Utahism)! You say the center one looks oddly human, Mark? Now that I look more closely, I fear you might be RIGHT!

I was aware that we have more than our share of mutants around here, but.... now.......... Ohhhhhhh, Crikey!

Aha, so you're a crazy cat person. That explains so much . . . . Kidding!

Wow, somebody in your neighborhood has great imagination! I like it! The thought of entering the land of giant ants would be better than a No Trespassing sign for me. Giant cockroaches would be scarier, but they were probably too hard to weld. Creativity is always cool, thanks for sharing!

Coyote me this, Couch: You'll need to show me your credentials as a Board Certified pHd (PdH? HPd? whatever...) Sikiatrofist before you get to call me "crazy." And until you do, I assure you: these little blue pills I take (TID) (and those light tan ones that I flush down the toilet, but we don't need to look into those now, do we?) and the nice jacket I wear that has the extra long arms and the straps and buckles and such PROVES that I am NOT --as you so cruelly put it-- some "crazy cat person." I <ahem!> have sufficient experience in Clinical Psych to know I'm not one of "THEM!"

But thankfully, these particular 'neighbors' live in the next County south. And it might be that the Dollar Store was all out of cockroaches, but I don't know that for a fact.

I am happy to see that you can get away from your duties to record the neighborhood happenings, Jim. Remember that dogs have owners; cats have staff.

Why (in Hell!) didn't you post this reply earlier, Mike? Like, maybe, before these cats took over me and the casa? They make me so antsy at times!

OMG its THEM. I could have been only 11 or 12 when John and I snuck into see the movie. For some reason that movie had a major impact on me. After confessing to seeing the movie I wanted my dad to buy a flamethrower. I had nightmares for months and still can't get the sound of the ants out of my system. Yeah, I know, the sounds were amplified tree frogs.

I have been honored to have been owned by a number of Cats in my life.

Oops, my mistake, did I say crazy (out loud)?? I beg your pardon, I meant frenetic feline fancier. And your formal white jacket is very distinguished. If I ever get to Utah I expect I'll be able to distinguish you coming from a mile away. It's very comforting, though, to give yourself a nice warm hug, isn't it? More people ought to do it, the world would be a better place.

Those critters by the thousands are scary to think about! They look like dog-sized fire ants! Yikes!
