Hi Tony,

I stayed on the east side of Lake Cayuga in 2018, and checked out Filmore Glen, Buttermilk Falls, Lansing Myers Park, Watkins Glen, Robert Treman, Ithaca Falls, and Taughannock Falls. Taughannock has a short, flat hike to a 200 foot waterfall. At most of these you can do a loop hike consisting of the “gorge” (or creek) hike followed by the “cliff” (woods) hike back. I generally went up the gorge trails and came back down the cliff trails.

At Hermann J. Wiemer winery on the west side of Seneca Lake, I found a Riesling semi-dry wine that I really liked.

Have a great trip!

Pat

You certainly want to see the Corning Glass Museum in Corning, NY and the Steuben Glass workshop. The Cornell University campus itself is beautiful and picture-worthy, as are the gorges to either side of campus. Lake Geneva’s not bad either. For odd things to look at (from the highway) N of Geneva there’s an old army base which happened to be a nuclear weapons storage site. If memory serves, some of the bunkers are still visible.

Thank you Peter!

Montezuma Nation Wildlife Refuge in Seneca Falls. Be aware there’s no Aztec pyramids in “Montezuma” in upstate NY. Beats me why *that* name .....

I have been to the Finger Lakes Area several times. I stay in Hammondsport which is on Keuka Lake less than 20 miles from Watkins Glen. There are several beautiful state parks in the area. Letchworth, Buttermilk Falls, Stoney Brook are just a few. There is a county park in Naples that you walk in a glen to 2 large waterfalls. It is a beautiful place to explore.

Thank you for this info.

Would second Letchworth State Park and the glen itself. There is also Mt. Morris Dam, very close to Letchworth which you might find interesting. Montour Falls, just down the road from you, has a nice set of falls easily accessible. You don't mention what you like to shoot but there is a small rodeo (Reese Ranch Rodeo) that will be running the 4th and the 18th just down the road. Easy access and they are quite photographer friendly.

Thanks for the info. We will be there during that time frame, but the RRR website isn't too friendly. I can't figure out exactly when they run the rodeo. Anyway, I will give them a call, sounds like fun. Thanks again.

Take highway 14 from Watkins Glen to Geneva.
Awesome.
Many other things.
You have to go to Corning as well.
See Rockwell Museum and Corning glass works.

Thanks for this info!
