It is well known that Google and others use cookies to track your browsing history and then target ads aimed at your interests. If I research a camera on the Web, then I'll see ads for cameras on web sites the next day. I'm talking about something entirely different.
In the past month, I've seen three ads aimed at products that were mentioned in the body of three different emails. I'm referring to Gmail. The products were not mentioned in the subject line, and there were no internet searches of the products on any of my computers. The latest was for Vitamin C oil which was recommended by someone to help with skin healing from a laser treatment my wife had. I've tried to research this issue, and I see that Google claims that they stopped this practice, but I don't believe them. Not after this.
Watch what you say if you're using Gmail. That's all I have to say. They're reading/scanning it. Who knows what else they would do with it?
How else are they going to find the dissidents or terrorists?
By the way, here's an ad for.......

It isn't Google's job to find dissident's and terrorists. It's the government's job, and if they need to scan email and social media posts to do their job, then I don't have a problem with it if that's all they are doing it for. It should be done under clear guidelines and not for political abuse. At least the government isn't targeting me with ads.
Recently while we were vacationing at a rented vacation beachfront home, my son in law asked me in a verbal conversation what I thought about the Jeep Cherokee vehicle.
Without ever personally researching Jeep vehicles, an hour later I began receiving advertisements for Jeep products on my personal i-pad.
I don't believe the sudden reception of these advertisements was a coincidence.

And how do you know that the government isn't being assisted by Google?

I know someone or something is monitoring this. If you put a link into a post (first post of a subject), then your post gets moved to the Links and Resources section. I doubt if a real person is doing this. I've seen many ugly exchanges on this forum about various things, including politics, religion, guns etc. I'm not against free speech. People should be able to talk civilly about anything. I was surprised that my subject got moved for what I would consider a pretty innocuous statement and included the word political.

I also do not believe that was a coincidence. Something similar happened to my cousin.

I have never looked up anything to do with any Jeep and
yet everywhere I go on the net they are advertising the Jeep.
But I did read somewhere that with the coming out of the Ford
Bronco Jeep has really stepped up its advertising.

If they haven't figured on much of what to show you, they have to show you something.
