I had a RRS L-plate on order from B&H for 2 months and it is still on BO. I checked Adorama...same thing. So I went directly to RRS and they no longer have it listed, so I'm guessing that it has been discontinued. Therefore, I am looking for alternatives and came across these three: Rogeti, Stabil, and SmallRig. Recommendations?

The RRS website says the BA1 is available for preorder. That may or may not be what you had on backorder.

Quoted from site:
“The Really Right Stuff BA1 camera body plates are custom designed for the most secure fit as possible on the Sony Alpha-1, A7RIV, A9II, and A7SIII.”

That is not the one I had ordered (I removed this item from my order); but I think it will fit the bill. I checked B&H and it doesn't appear that the "L" part is an option like it is on the RRS site. Too bad, because I get a 6% discount at B&H with my "PayBoo" card.

Thank you for this information. I had missed it that this bracket will fit my camera.

You are welcome. Perhaps B&H will also carry it when RRS gets them ready for distribution. Those may be my two favorite stores.

I have a SUNWAYFOTO PSLO-a7RIV Dedicated L Plate for Sony A7R Mark IV Camera Arca/RRS Compatible ordered from Amazon was in stock and half the price of the RRS. It is an aluminum L bracket and does what it is supposed to do.

Check B&H for a SmartRig model. It is a fraction of the price and has a great grip extension that makes the Sony's fit your hand better. I think mine was $59.

I saw the SmallRig, but not the SmartRig. It’s currently unavailable at B&H. Thanks for the advice.

Sorry you are correct SmallRig (my vision is getting bad!) I also was told it was out of stock but I ordered it and it arrived in only 2 weeks.

I looked at that one; but it doesn’t cover the entire bottom, stopping just before the battery door. That’s also why I wasn’t a fan of the Rogeti. Thanks!

That’s probably the only other one I would consider. Are you happy with it? The fit and access to everything?

For a low-cost L bracket it is great. Everything fits perfectly, as expected and it is adjustable on the vertical side. It has two additional 1/4" mounts for any accessories.

What I like best is the grip extension on the bottom to make the small Sony body fit my large paws better. Access to the battery compartment is good and memory cards are unaffected by the bracket. It is a bit tight to get to all of the electronic connectors but that's true will all brackets.

I was going to recommend that you contact RRS. I had a question arise last night. Sent an email and had a response when I got up this morning. That’s customer service you rarely see.
