I think this is a Pupa or a larva of the Hoverfly Epistrophe eligans but am not sure which.

Also a caterpillar I cannot identify, any ideas welcome.

Brenda, really great finds and the first find is something that I have yet to see so thanks for sharing yours and the cat is a little darling too.

Fine macros, Brenda. No idea what they are, though.

It should be a hoverfly larva. If it's not moving it may be about to form a pupa, or it could be parasitized and is now moribund.
The other larva looks like a Lepidopteran larva (it being fuzzy), but somehow it does not look quite right. It may be parasitized as well.

Thanks Mark, the hoverfly larva did move to another leaf when I had it contained but I didn't see it move. The other larva moved around with confidence, I wish I had kept it now

Thanks Tom, I was confused because it is unlike any syrphid larvae or syrphid pupa I have seen before and it was so flat on the leaf.

I can see the confusion on the cat and you probably are correct.
My first guess was a Hairstreak larva. You can certainly see the similarity.

Thanks Bob. Yes, I just looked up the Hairstreak larva, there is certainly a good similarity. I have now learned something new.
