I'm old enough to remember standing and saying the pledge of allegiance in school. My parents and others didn't go to the school with flags and banners screaming about making us say the pledge. Now it would be a court case heading for the (un) supreme court. Said wait we have left our children.

Thanks Angler. If they are not they should move to someplace where they can be.
Thank you everyone who commented. We need to again become "One nation indivisible"

๐๐ we have one flying 24/7 on Pole with a light. Thank you.
My most memorable experience with our flag was when we moved to England for my job back in 1966. We shopped in Central London often (living out in Surrey County). When Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles in June 1968 we were saddened that the Kennedy family had another son killed before he could show his greatness. We learned that the US Embassy in London was making available a condolence book to be signed if you wished to express your sympathy at the loss. We drove down to London and found the Embassy, parked and walked to the Consulate Office where the book was to be signed. As we crossed the square in front of the Embassy, I looked up and saw Old Glory proudly whipping in the wind against a beautiful blue English sky. I was overcome with emotion. We hadn't seen a US flag for over 18 months and my wife and I were both in tears staring up and I said: "I always thought she was pretty but she's gorgeous!" "She's the most beautiful flag in the world."
