The question is anyone using it?
If so, how is the screen on it?

Laptop Vostro 5510, 15.6" FHD LED-Backlit Display, i7-11370H, GeForce MX450, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD

3.67 pounds vs nearly 9 pounds, not including the 2 pounds brick...

I have bought several Dell laptops and was disappointed in every one for one simple fact. BLOATWARE. I eventually formated the hard drive and started over. Then it was fine. Unless something has changed in the last few years I PERSONALLY DON'T like them. Some does they sell a ton of them. Lol

I have a Dell G7 7588. No problem with bloatware. I may have also reformatted when I switched out the m.2 NVMe drive to a far faster, and 4 times larger one, but I don't recall.

That said, it's shouldn't be hard to remove anything you don't want or like in Add/Remove programs.

I can't answer your screen question, but I'm jealous of those innards. That should be capable of doing some fast editing!

Dell's seem to last well. As far as bloatware, Dell business machines seem to have considerably less. Looks like a great pick Ron.

I do not see how bloatware can become an issue. You can remove everything by simply load windows using a USB stick... Windows is now tied to a CPU so...

I am more concerned about the screen. I can purchase it and send it back, but it would be a waste IMO.

So anyone who has a Dell with the same screen... What do you think about it?

Actually a lot of bloatware cannot be removed by using add or remove programs. Also if you can remove that way it leaves the registry uncleaned. We finally got my wife's cleaned up by wiping it and reloading a clean version of windows. At that point it is exceptable but nothing special.

I could not agree more. I hated Dell laptops during my 30+ year IT career (busted hinges, etc., etc.)... until I got my first Dell G7 and now I have two.

I have a Precision M5300 with no bloatware of any kind. I have been using Dell Precision workstations for four generations without any serious problem. My present screen is 4K with nearly full Adobe RGB, and it is a great screen, much better than previous Dell screens. It was nearly perfectly calibrated out of the box. Not sure about yours. I do recommend checking Dell Outlet, where you can easily save 40% on the price of a new one with full warranty (if they have what you want in stock)

What are the specs for the screen? If its IPS then its probably OK, if TN then not so good for colour or viewing on an angle. Is the screen resolution an issue for you? Many laptops max out at so called "full HD" or 1080. 15" MacBook Retina screens have higher resolution at 1800 in the vertical. Video/Graphics RAM can be as important as the normal RAM - IMO 64GB is overkill but that's me - others have different opinions. I do think very strongly that screen quality is the most important part of any computer used for photography - does it matter if its a little slower compared to a dearer more powerful model if its screen is top quality. Equally does it matter if its lightening fast if what it shows is rubbish?

You have lots of choice. It all comes down to what spec you need or want - and how much you're willing to pay. You have to balance three things: performance, weight, and cost. I've had a couple of Dell laptops, including an old large heavy one that still works, but the backlight on the screen died. That 3.67 lb weight seems very good, compared with others I have seen. I wouldn't quibble over less than a pound. Price and specs would be more important to me. Of course, 9 pounds would be out of the question.

Bloatware is easy to remove. We recently bought two Dell desktops, and I didn't see any bloatware, except for the antivirus, which I removed.

After twenty years as a Dell user I bought an HP Omen laptop. Specs as good or better than a comparable Dell for $100 less. The graphics and sound are phenomenal. A friend also left Dell for Lenovo, he is happy as well. I encourage you to shop carefully. Dell's major advantage in the electronics world is their marketing department.

My Dell 15.5 in. XPS laptop has been the best laptop I have ever owned. I bought it in Jan. 2017. Traveled the world with it on photo assignments and for daily personal use. It is real workhorse. Mine has 4k screen, SSD and 32 GB of ram and runs all my photo and video programs flawlessly.

If I ever need to replace it , I will get another Dell. Just tough as nails. I have no issues with bloatware. The performance and durability has made me a Dell believer.

Cheers

Most of my computers are Dells. I have a Dell Inspiron 17" 7786, 7 Dell Latitude D830s, and a Dell 15. My only non-Dell is a Microsoft Surface Pro 6.
The reason I have so many is that I do photos with the Easter Bunny, and with Santa at a local mall, plus 2 photo booths. Sometimes I'll have more than 1 gig at the same time. All of it has been sitting unused since Covid hit. I was just notified that Santa will return to the mall this Christmas (Thank you, Lord!).

I just bought a Dell XPS13. Fir travel it is great. The 4K display is just outstanding way better than the MacBook pro it replaced. It works fine fir what I do in post. Got it one a flash sale for $999 instead of $1700.
