The Imperial Palace Hotel in Las Vegas used to have one of the best collection of automobiles I have seen outside of the Harrah's collection in Reno and I always took time out to visit it whenever I was in town. There was an admission charge but if you entered through the front door of the casino there was usually someone handing out free tickets. The collection had one whole room devoted to Dusenbergs and had some truly remarkable automobiles. The last time I was in Las Vegas (2017) for a convention the Imperial Palace was no more but there was still an automobile museum but one that was much different than the original one. First of all, the entire collection of Duseys had been sold and almost all of the remaining cars were for sale. Here are a few of the better ones they had along with a full description of each with the asking price.
Beautiful cars, but too expensive for me.
Beauties, thanks for sharing.
Cars from my teens. Thanks for the memories
Right before I went into the service a friend and I went for a long ride in a red chevy convertable exactly like the one you posted. We both got hammered. I went to Fort Ord CA. He went to Fort Leonard wood MS and never saw each other again. Great memory.
I like the way you posted your photos showing the entire car instead of a piece of one here and another piece of something else. Excellent shots and series
Indeed, a nice collection and a very nice series.
Beautiful cars from my era, thank you for the memories!
My wife and I lived in Napa at the time (mid 70's) and when my folks came out to visit we took them to Tahoe and Reno. I remember drooling over Harrah's car collection in Reno. They're gone now, but thanks for the memory. That was a wonderful time.
Nice shots. My first wife was driving a 1960 Impala convertible in green when we met. I had a 1954 Morris Minor convertible. Frankly, the Impala was a bit of a step down but… I also owned a new 1966 Mustang V8 2+2, not a convertible. I think the Mustang price is fair but way too much for the Impala (not a fun car to drive with any brio).
My thanks to all that appreciated the shots of the classic cars from the Imperial Palace collection. I knew there would be some people out there from my age bracket that would appreciate seeing those grand old cars. A note concerning Avas Papa about the Harrahs collection being gone - most of the cars still are in a collection in Reno and are displayed beautifully. I'll try to get around to furnishing some photos from that and giving you the name of the museum sometime during the upcoming week. Also, I grew up in Connecticut and because of my father's job we moved 14 times during the 21 years before I started pilot training with the Air Force and my favorite place was Cheshire.
