A small group had planned a week in Iceland in October of this year. We were just notified that our workshop is cancelling. Anyone know of local photographers in Iceland who would do a small group photography tour with us?
Thanks
Ed
Have you tried Googling "photographic tours in Iceland"?

Try PM'ing Kalina54. She's a long-time member here & has been to Iceland many times for photography. I believe she has many contacts there and could probably give you excellent advice.
Edit - also PM plessner (Katherine) here on the Hog. If memory serves, she put together a small group several years ago. I believe they located a photographer based in Iceland as their guide.
I have done an internet search and there are many out there. Was interested in anyone’s experiences and recommendations. I don’t always have luck picking a name off the internet. Thanks.

Wow amazing that they cancelled (I have a trip in November to Patagonia and have wondered if it will be cancelled). I too have had mixed results finding photographic tours from google searches (some were great, others pretty bad). So would recommend finding one that people can vouch for. It would seem that October is an unusual time to go to Iceland? Is it for Aurora? Or? The puffins would be gone by then?
PS. I have known people who flew into Iceland, rented a car and did a self-guided tour. You might consider that? More work organizing it but definitely lots cheaper! And if you are flexible on where to go in Europe, Van Os (who has many tours with different guides so hard to know which guide is best) has a number of Oct trips in Europe (though not Iceland):

Not sure why October but we are pretty locked in on dates due to existing plane tickets. We will rent a car and do it on our own but having someone who knows the area greatly improves our chances of liking the pictures we take.

So is the person you had booked with based in Iceland? Could they recommend someone there? Did they give a reasonable explanation for cancelling on you? You might post his/her name to "warn" people against using them?
Person is a friend who had been there before. Had to cancel due to personal reasons. I don’t see a need to warn anyone.

(This is why one shouldn't jump to conclusions before acquiring sufficient information in order to arrive at a viable conclusion.
)
A couple of ideas...PSA (Photographic Society of America) has some sort of travel program where you can (sometimes) get help or info from resident members. Perhaps do a yelp search of photo tours to see what pops up? I'd limit that to a day trip. A google search of Iceland Photo Tours shows quite a few possibilities.
I also think there is an web site called photoscout that can help you figure out where you want to shoot as well. One thing...you are in the Northern Lights area...I'd be prepared for that and try to find someone who can be of assistance there as well.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out.

Crossing my fingers for you. Of the many trips that I have had cancelled since COVID came to town, one was a trip to Iceland. Getting a refund from Icelandair has proved to be a bit problematic but Hope springs eternal.

How long do you plan to be in Iceland ? We did a trip for 3 days in October of 2018,and we basically rented a car at Reykjavik airport and drove around. Did the Golden circle saw the Strokur geyser, Gulfoss waterfalls , Kerid vocanic crater also went that night on an aurora watching with a tour company (that is the only tour we did) , Second day drove to Westfjords, third day drove to Blue lagoon and departed in the evening out of Reykjavik airport.
