Does anyone using a gimbal head put a spotting scope on it? I use my tripod equally between my camera and my spotting scope. Thanks.

I'm an astronomy person and I see no reason you can't use it with the right adaptors.

I don't use a gimbal head for my binoculars but I do use a tripod and ballhead. If I did have a spotting scope using gimbal would be the first thing I would try.

Why reinvent the wheel?
You might need adaptors to fit the different things together so why waste money if it can't be done

I have used my Nikon EDG 85 VR Fieldscope and Nikon FSA-L2 adapter for a Nikon camera on a gimbal head and it works just fine.

so you think buying adaptors for the spotting scope and gimble head is a good idea if other Hoggers tried it wound up in trouble and figured out what he wanted to do had some issues?
Guess you need some common sense. Why not keep your sparky comments to Facebook or some other forum. The OP asked a legit question and most of us hoggers like to help others in this hobby. Guess you don't agree with this group. I have 5 telescopes with different mounting plates and some combinations work better then others. Perhaps another hogger tried something and discovered something the OP never thought of?

If you ever want to use a spotting scope for star gazing you might wind up with the scope hitting the bracket when above,I'm guessing 70 degrees. If no interest it viewing stars your ok, if not a ball head might be better. A spotting scope makes an EXCELLENT LOW POWER WIDE FIELD SCOPE
