I just did the update, now to pray it is something Murphey did to your PC and I won't have the problem.

Hope it resolves in positive way for you.

My wife's desktop somehow tried to install a Win 10 update before the previous ones and now the thing won't go away, just keeps trying to install and failing on every restart. I did get instructions to delete it from the update folder and am letting her use the machine with a bit of an out-of-date version of Win 10 with updates turned off. Waiting for Microsoft to get me a working solution - the first three they recommended either didn't work or only for a day or so. If this keeps up I will do a backup, then copy all her files (thank God about all she does is shop and use Word and Gmail now and then) format the disk, reinstall windows, update it to current and then reinstall her apps, files etc. I have an account on her machine but everything on it is also on mine so I can just let it get formatted.

And it was working so well. It does a beautiful job when it works!

I had similar problems recently after updating Topaz Sharpen:
Here is what worked for me. . . .

1. Go to "File" (upper left corner of opened program)
2. select "Preferences"
3. Go down to the "Performance" section at the bottom of this panel
4. 3. Go all the way to the bottom of this panel and select "Allowed Memory Consumption"
5. Set "Allowed Memory Consumption" to "High".

After doing this Topaz DeNoise processed several 10 Mb JPG files (in 10 seconds) and one 71 MB CR2 file (in 16 seconds).
Best Wishes and. . .
Smile,
JimmyT Sends

Edit: My coments apply to Topaz Sharpen v3.1.2 only.

I would un-install the app and redownload it from Topaz. I have the latest update and am using it without any problems. It is considerably faster than previous version. I’m using a Mac though not Windows.

Just a suggestion: Reboot and then close all other apps so Lightroom & Topaz can use all the ram. If that doesn’t work then you may need more ram and/or a faster processor.

Thanks for replying. I have 32 G ram and a dedicated GPU. I also reinstalled the program. Still no luck

...have you tried to move the image into Photoshop and see if it works there?

I loaded the Sharpen AI update on my desktop and laptop. Both run WIN 10 Pro.

No problems. Loading and updating went quickly and smoothly.

Be sure to check in Setting --> Update & Security --> Windows Update. Sometimes you can believe you are up dated, but it still wants you to do more updating. Weird, but it is what we have to use.

I had something similar with a Win 10 update, it only did a partial install and kept prompting me to 'restart' the process. After a few of these, my computer hard drive and all the content on it was 'toast'. Not only was the HD directory corrupted, but files that did remain on the hard drive were renamed by Windows. When I finally was able to reach a human at Microsoft, I was told that my hard drive was corrupted. And the only solution would be to reformat the drive at the loss of everything on it (or install a new drive for the new o/s install). I chose option #2 and spent a very long time with data recovery software to save files, sometimes damaged over the next many months.

Up until this morning, Topaz AI was running smoothly. After that update the trouble began Now I am on the phone with HP techs to find our why the computer is not working at all. I am in the middle an eight hour Hardware diagnostics scan. Not a good day for PP today

After resetting Windows and choosing CPU as the preferred mode in Topaz AI, it appears to be working OK. It was a looong process.
Thanks for all the comments

I did the latest and it messed it all up. As opposed to making things better it did the opposite! I sent in a ticket to Topaz and they said they were aware of the problem. I ask for a link to go back to the previous version. I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it works again. Oh, and it was way slower….old version all back to normal.
