There's a saying, "It's as easy as shooting fish in a barrel..!" Well, so is catching flies now and this is yet another one that landed long enough for me to "do my thing". I posed it for a view much like it would be seen when it lands where I would be looking at it as it rests on the window pondering why it can't escape its destiny.

Another remarkable shot!
Thanks, Quixdraw. Whenever it is fly season I will not lack for subjects to pose before the camera.
You told me before, but I’ve had bypass surgery and the resulting fuzzy memory that goes with it.
How do you catch your subjects and dispatch them without them curling up on you?

Thanks for asking and I enjoy sharing what I do and how I do it. I make a "kill jar" by using a mason type jar with a good sealing lid. I place cotton balls in the bottom and saturate them with Klean Strip M.E.K. Substitute that can be had at any local hardware store
http://www.kleanstrip.com/product/m.e.k.-substitute I then place two folded paper towels over the saturated cotton balls and they get damps from the cotton balls beneath.
Put the specimen in the jar, close the lid and within about 10-seconds they are gone to the netherworld. It is the quickest and most humane method that I have found. I store them in denatured alcohol and the fuzzy ones go in the freezer after dispatching. Grub type specimens and caterpillars get a minute in scalding water to kill the bacteria in their gut to keep them from turning black and then they are also stored in alcohol.
Awesomsauce! I’m putting this one on My Page so that I can find it again.
As always I went straight for the DDL and it did not disappoint. Great job Gary.

Thanks, Doc. When looking at the dorsal view, I can see why is it so difficult to catch them with their field of vision.

Thanks ever so much for viewing and for the reply.
Thanks, Napabob. Flies make a ready source of specimens.
