I shot these from inside the house through an open window with the screen removed. The hawk was sitting on the fence about 8 feet away and was good enough to stay and pose for about 20 minutes. The gray overcast skies provided the diffused lighting and background. Shot with a Nikon D500 with Nikon 200-500 mm lens. All shots are uncropped.
Outstanding! What a great opportunity!
A GREAT opportunity well executed ! Maybe, it does not get any better ? ! - This could be a Broad Winged Hawk .......thanks for sharing
.
Well done!
It helps US to know what gear was employed, settings ... thanks...
You must have had a big lens and been very close?

Gorgeous specimen and fine workπ π π π π
I now see the situation and gear used, thanks...
interesting, I returned my Nikon 200 500 finding it NOT sharp... your copy seems very impressive.. think there are many bad copies produced and it's difficult to test them out quickly enough to return... I bought mine from B&H just within the 30 day return range... and replaced it with a 300 f4, which was sharp as your lens shows in this beautiful sequence... this was a LUCKY op for sure! Getting that close to a Hawk is not usual... I have seen them close, but never had a camera in my hands at those rare moments...
Sharp and nicely exposed.
Excellent set and images.
You were fortunate indeed to capture such superb images.
