Curious...

How would someone who receives a print know if it does or doesn't match your monitor.
Would they care?

How would someone who receives a print know if the colors aren't just quite right.
Would they care?

How do you know that someone who receives a print sees the result the same way you do?
Would they care?

How would they know what it's supposed to look like?
Would they care?

Missing the point. I edit a photo to print the way I want the print to look. It has nothing to do with sending someone the print.

Then you said: Missing the point. I edit a photo to print the way I want the print to look.

Then why are you here on this thread?
Everyone who edits their own images wants them to look right to them...
And for the last time...if you are the only consumer...who cares?
Frankly, you have pissed away 1500 bucks if you aren't selling images.
You could get the same satisfaction from a 300 dollar monitor.

But if you sell...yes...go to 1500, 2000, 5000 if need be.

Actually I am the one that said I edit photos the way I want the print to look. I was disagreeing with his comments.

All my home’s TVs are IPS panels, which I use because of their better wide angle picture. However, the trade off is often less dynamic range than VA panels. As computer monitors for photography editing, is that a potential issue?

IPS is the way to go, as it allows for a steeper viewing angle from the sides. With non-IPS, one has to be pretty much in the center.

Also, IMO, curved screens (of any manufacturer) are a gimic. You pay $100 - $200 more for curved over straight, and curved doesn't add anything to your viewing...again IMO.

Perception.....

Only the photographer is driven by perfection needs of various intensities.
The viewer will not know the difference. They have nothing which to compare.

(I actually have two ≈$100 monitors. )

Why lie about what monitor you have?

If you want to crank out images that simply aren't accurate...no one cares...which is now the second time I have had to say that to you.
No one cares.

But if you want to make the best photos you can for others...you need to have a good color accurate monitor...period.
If you don't...you don't know what you are editing...for others.

Photographers in general grasp this concept.

Not a lie about the monitor, an example of perception. Should I have put it in quotes?
What someone could say if they had an expensive monitor that displayed everything perfectly.

Best is relative isn't it?

Some photographers are obsessed with perfection.
A concept that they create for themselves.
Who's to say what is "perfect"? The photographer, according to his conception, desires, and requirements.

Yup. Looks great on my $1,500 monitor.
I wonder what other people see.........

That's what you wrote.

Just be honest...not much to ask.

All I have ever said is...if you are selling prints to people...you need to do your best, and certainly need to know if your editing is accurate.

If you are just making images for your own enjoyment...no one cares...literally no one.

Yes, I did say that.

Yes, I do my best (to my liking) when I edit my images, for whatever reason. I'm "selling" to myself, and I am my own worst critic.

Most likely my best and your best are not identical, that's what makes us individuals.
Again, individual perception and desires.

And you are correct, I don't care what you do, only what I do,
just like you don't care what I do, only what you do.

Then there was no need for any of your comments.
The OP wants a serious monitor...you do not.
