This is an odd situation. Lowe's offers discounts to veterans, and it also has reserved parking for veterans. That's fine. What's odd is that Lowe's stores decorate those parking spaces in remembrance of the veterans. The result is a nice display, but veterans lose those special parking spaces. I wonder if they'll be complaints about that. They already have Handicap parking spaces, so if there are spaces for veterans and veterans' displays, that will leave fewer spaces for regular customers.

People like to complain, so I'm sure there will be all sorts of complaints. Someday, we'll find a way to make everyone happy.

I could care less about a parking space reserved for me at Lowe's. What I do care about is the year-round discount they give to veterans!

I think you should reread what you wrote:

Jerry complain? Surely you jest. I get up at 4 AM just to read his daily problems

Sounds like they are mixing up Memorial Day with Veterans Day, a common thing for those who have never served, but well intentioned!

Our Lowe's had decorated spots, but we were still able to pull into them.

Many veterans are young and healthy and do not really need special parking places. More important to have adequate handicapped parking. One day when my knees were particularly sore I went to a store and found that it had a whole row of parking places up front with signs saying that they were dedicated to their "senior customers". I confess to being a "senior" now, even though I am not necessarily happy about that! I was very grateful...

Lowe’s veterans discount used to apply to anything in the store…the last time I made an appliance purchase and paid full price I was told my vet discount no longer applied to certain items. BUMMER

Yup; people will indeed complain. My local Lowes has the same veterans' reserved parking spaces but their lot is so big all it means is someone else will have to park a little further away and (gasp!) walk an additional 25 or 30 feet to the front door. Might do 'em a little good!

Be careful, in a split second your entire life can be altered beyond comprehension. An accident or unsuspected diagnosis will quickly change your attitude. That “25 or 30 feet” can also be 250, 300, or 500 feet and mean ice or snow with its perils to walking, any of which may make that store totally inaccessible to someone. The old adage about walking in the other person’s shoes.....
