Without any back up data, No, they don't.. Most photographers can't afford Leica, ex. some of the old Film Cameras. Though film is wonderful, it is much more complicated logistically than digital, and in any volume far more expensive.

Why not?

In the past, Leica was invented for fast lenses on small film (35mm), making possible candid pictures that captured "the decisive moment"--as opposed to traditional larger cameras such as 4x5 press cameras.

Today, I think Leica is a small part of the market, because it is expensive. But for a long time, a beginner could get a used Leica very reasonably and compete with experts. Since Leicas are always in demand, they have good trade-in value, too.

Not sure - I think I read an article to that effect a while back. Let me check and see if I remembered correctly and can find it. Quick! here it is.

NO, that used to be a preferred camera because in the film days it was very quiet. Today's mirrorless camera's are also extremely quiet.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Graham Smith is one of the best street shooters on UHH and he is a Nikon shooter.

It would be interesting to take an informal survey of street shooters on various internet sites, such as UHH and youtube to see if there are any patterns. I am just thinking on the keyboard here, but I wonder if street photography has an appeal to the younger shooters and if Leica might be beyond many of their budgets. I know there is quite a range of quality, or perhaps I should say in what I find appealing.
