Bob Dylan will turn 80 tomorrow, May 24. He's had quite a career.

He visited an elementary school a while ago, and when he left, one of the kids asked, "Who was that creepy old man?" I don't have the details, but someone told me that story.

The “creepy old man” just sold his music catalogue for over $300 million.

I saw an interview with Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) talking about unconventional musicians. He asked what would happen if Bob Dylan went on Star Search. He said the judges would say "Too nasal - next?"

Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) turned 80 a few months ago, and is still going strong. Since April of last year, he has been doing weekly live stream concerts, and will soon be back on the road with Jack Casady. An inspiration to us all.

I couldn't stand Bob Dylan back in the 60's and 70's, but now I think he's great. The same with Janis Joplin. I can't get enough of her. Go figure. I can't.

Dylan is a lyricist, a poet, a prophet.

I've found that lots of talented people are multi-talented. The reverse is also true.

I’ve left instructions to my sons that Dylan be played at my wake when I’m gone - ‘nuff said. I was about 18 when I first heard Dylan, and my first thought was what a strange nasal voice. Then I listened to the words...

Hot Tuna never got the recognition the fine musicians who comprised that group deserved - Jorma is one of the finest and most underrated guitarists of that era! "Embryonic Journey" remains one of the tastiest acoustic efforts ever to come out of the 60's - or any era, for that matter!

I have a friend who has requested "I Shall be Released" at his funeral - great choice.
