Aunt Sally's Pralines Decatur St. New Orleans, Louisiana

Anytime we have guests in to stay with us they always want to visit the French Quarter. Aunt Sally's Pralines is one of my favorite places to take them besides Cafe Du Monde for beignets.

I grabbed a quick picture of the pralines as they were cooling. Then went inside and bought a bunch plus ate way more of the samples than I should. Talk about a sugar rush.

You know the right places. I visited New Orleans once and ate my way through the city.

Yes born a few miles from NOLA. And you're description is accurate of eating your way through there. Some of the best places are not the highly touted tourist destinations. The hole-in-the-wall joints are usually better, cheaper & less crowded.

My company held our national sales meetings every year in glamorous locations but New Orleans is the only place I ever wanted to visit again (never made it). Between the music, the food and the heart of the people, it’s an amazing experience.

There was a woman named Doreen Ketchum playing clarinet with a small street band. I watched her play for two hours, bought every CD she was selling and became a big fan. New Orleans is a magic city and I fell in love with it.

These look exactly like Mom's French Lace Cookies - delicious! Have her recipe, but the first try at least, not the skill. Will have to try again. Went to New Orleans several times, also for meetings. Wonderful food, an interesting place. Stories and stories!

My wife has done pralines and finally got the timing and measurements right. Not long enough on the heat they don't set up properly, too long and they can set up in the pot.
