The world’s richest man is apparently making a lot of money off a government program aimed at helping the poor Americans.
Every time someone gets a phone through Lifeline, a government program that gives phones to low-income Americans, aka the "Obamaphone", TracPhone, a company in which Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim has a controlling stake gets $10. The company’s CEO, Frederick “F.J.” Pollak, who is a major Obama donor, also makes a profit from the data plans and minutes beneficiaries of the Lifeline program buy.

I couldn't find anything anywhere that said the government is giving phones to anybody. According to the FCC website, the Lifeline program gives discounts up to a whopping $9.95 a month to low income families. And it's only eligible on one phone per family. So if you have a landline, you can't get the discount on a cell phone. And it's funded totally by the industry, so no federal dollars are used. This is obviously yet another right wing line of BS lies against the president.

Snopes says it's false

Factcheck says it's false

Nowhere on that website is it identified, and the date is from 2008. I doubt very much it was true then or now. And who was president in 2008, anyway? I can't seem to remember.

I'm sorry, I was wrong. If you check the contact link on the page, it shows some guy named James Johansen. Some clown who's using a .edu domain name to sound official. What a crock.

Like I said, someone is giving away free phones because a few of my neighbors have gotten them. It is not like I have to prove what I already know to be true. What is, is.

Did you even try this site? You can't order anything on that site. It's totally bogus. All it does is lead you to a not found site. You really should do a little more research before you post.

Research it yourself, it is out there and it is true. How is it that you don't know about this?

You just quoted the same link I did. Did you by any chance actually read any of it? Nowhere does it mention free phones. It's about help paying the phone bill for low-income families. No free phones. It's simply not true, and your friends are lying to you about it if they claim they got free phones. Take off the aluminum foil hat and join the real world for a change.

tschmath, ask around, ask people you know. Ask if they have ever heard of getting a free phone with 250 minutes free each month. Ask, start today.
Search for yourself. You read all about it and you still don't believe it? What is wrong with you. I have heard of being hard-headed but are you?

Are you really that dense? I've been trying to tell you that I haven't read a single word that's true about free phones, and two sites have proven it's not true. I'm done discussing this with someone as dense as a rock.
