Has this happened to you?
I've had my Canon EOS R since they were first released. I had upgraded from my beloved 6D Mark I. For too many months I've been lusting over the R5 and R6 and often even wondered if I should have bought the 5DIV instead of the R.
However I've come to realise what a terrific and tough camera the R actually is - fantastic image quality, feels like a pro camera, so far has worked impeccably and has been a reliable workhorse for my real estate work. Believe it or not I actually love this camera and I no longer lust for any other camera. I'm saving my GAS for lenses instead.
Am I mad or have I come to my senses? Have any of you come to a similar conclusion my friends?

Congratulations on overcoming your gas, and realizing that if the camera you have is doing it's job, no need to give into gas syndrome. There is a difference in needs and wants. Now, if you can afford a new camera and want it, that's different. But you answered the question "do I really need it". That's hard for a lot of us to do.
I wouldn't know what a "pro camera" feels like.
I don't label them.
I have a camera.
Maybe my camera identifies as a pro camera?
I don't know, I haven't asked it.

I'd say whatever camera you use becomes "pro" if you sell the pix it takes.

I was somewhere one time, a guy pointed and said "He has a GOOD camera!".
I guess he thought his phone wasn't good enough...
If you don't love your camera, who will love your photography?

My cousin who worked for the Hydro always said "You've got to trust your equipment.".
He's right, no matter the equipment.
Faith and confidence.
I'm glad for you. I feel the same way about my D850.

As I am a hobbyist photographer (and don't pretend to be anything else), I'd much rather have a camera that feels like a "hobbyist camera" - a camera which feels like it was specifically tailored to my needs! I guess that would be a camera that offers a wide range of versatility.

I am also a hobbyist, albeit kinda serious, but not obsessed, glad to meet you.
My camera must "fit", feel comfortable to use, perform nicely, ... .
(I don't buy bells & whistles. If it comes with some, cool.)
Why invest in yourself when you can invest in your tools?
I feel fortunate that I don't have GAS. Well, not the kind you're talking about. Any time I contemplate making a major purchase I typically have to convince myself that it's the right decision and can be justified even though I can easily afford it. When I turn loose of money I want to feel good about it. This year my daughter and I opened a ROTH IRA for her with me depositing $12,000, the max allowable for the two years of 2020 and 2021. I could have bought some really nice equipment with that money but so far I'm okay with what I have.
Glad you love your camera. I recently bought a Canon 1DX 3 and no looking back for me. It’s everything I want in a camera.
i have three cameras that I use and I have specific uses for each. I will probably never buy another camera.
I have a 1947 Speed graphic 4X5 which I use with a 6x9 120 roll fim adapter; a Canon T5i which I use the most because it also does video; and a 4x5 sinar monorail view camera which I use with a 120 roll film adapter.
I am totally satisfied with these and donot feel the necessity to go with every new iteration of camera that hits the market
