I am/was a big fan of Amazon but at the moment I am locked out. Why? They have switched to a *&^ security scheme where they have to send you a security code in order to login. I am not getting the code but don't know why. When I click on the "Help" on the security screen, it only has the usual resets for password or you forgot your username. If I get into Amazon and try to do anything, it goes back to the security screen. And there is no method I can find to send them a message about the problem.
Buh Bye, Amazon!

I feel your frustration! However, neither rain, snow, sleet or hail can keep me away from Amazon-not even tricky security codes! It is definitely a nuisance and I would prefer they find a better way to ensure security!

I had the same problem that I was not receiving the codes by SMS. I called their customer service in the nearest English speaking country and they reset my account. When I log in it sometimes ask to setup two step verification and I just say no. I was surprised how easy it was to speak to a person.

Huh??? I get in with my user name and password, no code. And my wife can log in the same way and our daughter at medical school in Virginia also uses my account with no problem and no sign-in code.
I had one company start sending messages to my "primary phone".
My land line is my "primary" phone.
It has no idea what to do with messages.
Had another company do that but it gave me a pick list of phone numbers to use.
Forced to change my "primary" now........
My land line is still my primary, but am forced to lie because of technology.
One should not blame their inabilities on others.
I just went to Amazon, and was signed in automatically - no code required.
When I log onto an online bank or investment company I like the idea of them texting to me a security code to my phone verifying that it is actually me logging on. Haven't bought anything from Amazon recently but I'm curious to see how it goes when I do.

Yup, I used to do the same. Now they want more info.

Call them at 888-280-4331
2FA (2 factor authentication) has become quite commonplace and I, personally, like all the different versions whether it's email, text message, or use of an app like Authy or Google Authenticator, to help protect my accounts. There was a time when 2FA first showed up that I also thought it was cumbersome and a step too far, but today it just feels like the logical progression in the pursuit of security in this ever-expanding digital world, especially the apps... wish I'd have thought of them.

check your spam folder and is it possible you registered with a different email?
2 factor authentification sounds like a good idea, until the fragile, easily lost, easily dead battery, easily out of cellular range smart phone lets you down. Two different computers to log on? I think it's a terrible idea.
Learn to create, store, and use strong passwords instead.
Usually Amazon only asks for a code if you are on a computer that they perceive as unknown (to Amazon). For example, if you are using a different computer, or if you have cleared cookies. It may also request further security info if you are using away from your usual location, but not always.
Usually, once you obtain a code, you can enter it once and check the box " remover this computer".
You may also have accidentally checked the box requesting 2FA, which you can correct easily enough.
A simple phone call to Amazon customer service will solve this for you. Start with (800) 201-7575.
I just logged in as usual.
