Looks like we've got a storm a-brewin'. Not only is Canon coming out with the R3 but I just saw that Nikon is coming out with a Z9. This is going to be fun to watch.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter which camera recorded the image. And I challenge anyone who claims they can tell the difference.

How about Pentax vs Fujifilm?
K-3iii vs X-S10. One should see a difference there with Fuji's non-Bayer array.

Mass market who cares since Sony seems to be beating everyone.

I agree with you Gene, but it's going to be fun to watch. Kinda like when Chevy introduced the Camaro to compete with the Mustang.

Just when I was ready to pull the trigger on the Canon R5, they come out with a Canon R3 Grrrrr.
I guess as soon as I complete my research of the newest Canon they will come out with the "New & Improved" Canon R5 Mk II.
At this rate, I may never get the "Latest & Greatest", sigh. . . .
Canon, my credit union thanks you.

Edit: My talent clearly demonstrates that I have yet to master the equipment that I currently own.

Jimmy, I read that there may be an R1, so hang on to your money a bit longer. You know that there's always a "Latest" but never a "Greatest".
Know what makes products great? Competition. Remember how much better American cars got when Japan entered the market? Competition will assure that all camera manufacturers will keep producing greater products. As far as which of the two cameras you mentioned will come out on top for me is immaterial because I will probably keep chugging along with my D7200 unless I see a "real" reason to upgrade.

I agree totally if you're talking about cameras of the same era, but the choice of camera to buy might hinge on specific features that are to the liking of the buyer and also whether someone has invested a ton of money in glass that is specific to a manufacturer. I could buy a car with what I've spent on Nikon equipment. Do I want to spend that again just to switch to Canon or Sony?
Ford vs. Chevrolet. Same squabbles.
