Hi sailorsmom
I would re-shoot the first image in the following ways:
Use 3 leaves - the yellow, red and green(if there is one left!) or brown. Why 3? Because odd numbers look better than even numbers. Give it a plain background (eg grass) and place the leaves in a fan-like position with their stalks touching or close to each other, the darker colour leaves on the 2 sides with the lighter colour leaf in the middle. Why the lighter colour in the middle? Because light colour catches the eye more than the dark colours and if it is on the side, it will draw your attention away from the other parts of the image. Alternativly, stack them. Also try them on a bed of evenly coloured leaves eg brown leaves if a green leaf is used. Zoom in so that the 3 leaves fill the frame with a bit of background showing. Lots of variations you can try.
Image 2 - This image can be improved by moving back a bit and to your left so that you are shooting between the trees and more of the bases of the trees and ground are showing. It could do with a bit more saturation to bring out the autumn colours.
Image 3 - Well composed but need a bit more contrast to bring out the colours. Make sure this doesn't whiten the logs behind the left tree, the front of the middle pile and the bits of sky too much. May need to adjust the whites with 'levels' to bring it back down or to burn those areas in. May need an additional bit of saturation if required. Why increase contrast in this image and not the previous one to give it the sparkle? The second image has a lot of bright areas which will 'blow out' if contrast is increased whereas the third image is quite flat in its lighting and will benefit from increase light and shadow areas.
Have fun.
