On our recent trip to see the grandchildren, we stopped in Washington, DC to see my sister-on-law. While there I planned to go to the Mall and get some sun rise pictures. As with all things in DC, I was disappointed. I awoke to a gray, rainy day.
I went to the Mall and visited, to me, the most personal thing - The Wall. On this spring morning it was deserted. I took some illustrative pictures that I include in this post.
I was sorry not to see more people there, but it was probably a good thing - it really depresses tourists to see an old man cry.

Well done, I have visited there.
I would probably have cried, too, Mike. Great set.

Thanks, Ken, I am unable to keep dry eyes there.
Excellent work Mike! This serious really got me in the feels.
You went at a great time of year...even with the rain, the temperature was nice and comfortable to walk around in. Late Spring through Summer that place (used to) turn into a zoo.

Really nice pictures. Rather than just showing the wall, they also show the area around the wall and gives a good feel for the area. Thanks.

I am happy that you liked the set, Lee.
These are very nice shots, Mike. You got some nice perspectives. It is a very emotional place. Seeing all the names is overwhelming. I’ve never experienced it without the crowds but I have been there for rainy weather!

Thanks, Carol. As you can tell, it is a very special place for me.
Beautiful shots of a very emotional place. I have not been there but I have seen the Traveling Memorial wall and that sure does make me cry.
