Has anybody tried this AvanquestUSA product? In the past I have found their products to be pretty good but I question this one. I don't see how it would transfer programs where they would run on a new computer without a lot of work besides what this programs did. Program name: "Fast Move" data transfer.

I agree. I'm puzzled also.
Most programs have to be "installed" not simply copied to a new computer. The transfer program would also have to go in and change a lot of system file contents (like the system registry) regarding the transferred program so the OS has the info it requires about the program.
SOME programs are simply stand-alone executables.

Microsoft has a similar app PCMover on their approved list. I have used it to transfer an entire system to a new computer with different hardware specs twice. Worked fine. (yes a few things had to be tweaked or settings changed) Acronis has a similar feature as part of their backup software that allows you to restore a backup to a different computer instead of the one it came from. I haven't used the Acronis. The PCMover that I used twice does take a long time as it syncs things. I started it and then went about my day while it worked for a few hours.
