One’s resolve to absolutely learn to use every last bell and whistle of that latest piece of gear before lusting after a newer one!

Funny that no one mention the human element... (except for Gene)

Almost everyone agrees that it is the most important component...

But the human last quite long.

The old guy (usually-apologies ladies) using it.

For younger people like working news photographers, wildlife photographers etc. it is the moving parts like the switches and buttons.

A car stereo I had put in as an upgrade came with a small remote control-Huh? I can reach the controls without trouble from the drivers seat. But on the first page of the manual it stated "Use the remote so the switches and dials don't wear out. A new remote is $29.95, a whole new unit is much more expensive."

But are they still in 100% working condition???

I know the early 20's me that went in the Army worked a lot better than the 75 year old me typing this. In some cases the experience makes up for it, but not in a lot of other things.

I could probably stand for a while and maybe stumble across the room wearing all the gear etc. from then, but back then I could walk around all day or do a 20 mile forced march wearing all that crap. The 75 yo wiser me would just toss it in the back of the SUV and drive off.

Hmm, now I want an ATV with carrier/racks for my camera gear (plus lunch and water/Gatoraide) and maybe even a fixed pedestal with tripod head that can be used from the saddle/seat. G.A.S. on steroids!?!?!?!?

My lenses are in the shop much more than my cameras, but this isn't really that often.

In my experience, switches, controls, or connectors, under normal conditions. But if you drop it or abuse it, all bets are off.

Most likely, the mechanical shutter or the batteries.
