Not many people have witnessed a Pelican cleaning his feathers by "showering" ........I have only seen it a couple times now. These are from my latest Pelican pursuit....most are in full breeding colors here now ......

Sony A99, Sigma 100-300 f4 APO, with and without 1.4X CIZ in late afternoon bright/hazy direct sun, hand held, the first is at ISO 200 and the second is one of the very few times I have shot ISO 100

I consider the Sigma 100-300 f4 the sharpest lens I have used next to the Canon 300 2.8 - not taking anything away from the Canon 400 5.6 either.
