As photographers some of us spend hours in front of our computers doing this and that with our photography. I have a terrible chair and an equally terrible back. Any suggestions for a good working office chair and desk as well would be very much appreciated.

If you’re comfortable standing you may also want to try a powered adjustable desktop that can be raised and lowered for standing and sitting.

Thank you - I'm looking into that as well.

Relax the Back is worth looking into also. As for myself, I like task chairs with armrests as they don’t have too many adjustments to get wrong LOL. I’m sure you know all the 90-degree rules, too.

I got an ergonomic office chair with adjustable lumbar support from Sam's club. Costco and Walmart carry a good selection at fair prices also.

I looked up Ergonomic Office Chairs on the web when my wife bought hers. She sits at her office desk most of the day and well into the night when business is heavy. That chair type will help immensely. I’m not sure what brand she picked out and purchased, but they all do the same basic function.
I found this description on the web:

Ergonomic chairs can improve back pain by promoting a sitting posture that allows proper alignment of the shoulders, hips, and spine.
This reduces abnormal strain on the body and prevents harmful positions such as slouching and forward head.

I also found an ergonomic vertical mouse for her wrist pain issue. Wireless of course. That mouse is made by Evoluent.
Good luck with your back issues. Sometimes a good masseuse can help too.

LOL - I was told that many years ago and I stopped also. Time shows no mercy though - right.

I invested in a "wobble chair" for about $75 U.S. It has no back, is height adjustable and the seat has an inflatable cushion. When you sit on it, your hips are kept in motion as you make small adjustments to your position. I have degenerative disk disease, and some of you probably know how much fun that can be! Before I got this chair, I was using a reasonable "ergonomic" office chair. My feet and legs were swelling from prolonged sitting. Since I bought this chair, no more leg and foot swelling and my back is giving me less trouble. I am still thinking of getting a height-adjustable adapter for my desk. but his has been a game changer for me. Not a plug, but I got it at Staples. Go try one in the store.

What ever chair you get , and while your looking , get up and walk around every 20 minuets, will help a lot , and not just your back. One of the things working in an office taught us.
